Only the Association of British Drivers could come up with the conclusion that if motor traffic is reaching a peak then the response should be to build more roads!

In contrast, and perhaps less tongue-in-cheek, Spokes in Edinburgh has been arguing that falling peak-period private motor traffic gives an opportunity to reduce the space allocated to cars and to use the space instead to improve conditions for getting around the city centre by bike or on foot.
