London Overground: a capital connection

Three years have seen much take place at TfL’s rail operation

It was in early 2004 when the Department for Transport instigated a review of Britain’s railways that Transport for London first proposed taking control of the capital’s suburban rail network. While many of these aspirations appear have fallen by the wayside, the review did result in part of the then Silverlink rail franchise transferring to TfL control, leading to the birth of the London Overground network in 2007.
