Cardiff Council this week said it was confident about the future of its bike hire scheme despite figures showing it has been used for just 1,500 trips in the first year.

The scheme, operated by OYBike, was launched last September and has 70 bikes located at 15 locations in the city centre. An OYBike spokeswoman told LTT that the bikes had registered 1,500 trips since launch.

If that volume represented 11 months of use then it is equivalent to just five trips being made a day. But a council...
