The big ticket items for me are four-fold. First up is rail, where a simple cold demand for efficiency savings across the industry is required. We cannot cut the rail capital programme because it is too important for wider national economic recovery.
Second, regulated rail fares should be increased, as a one-off above RP1 +1. Sure it’s tough on commuters, but those affected have paid employment at least.
Third, claw back a large part of the gift on concessionary fares for the elderly....
