A new island platform is to be built at Cambridge railway station to increase capacity and cater for future additional services. Platforms 7 and 8 will be bi-directional so that trains will be able to arrive and depart in either direction. The work will include a new covered footbridge with lifts to connect the new platforms with the existing station. A planning application has been submitted by Network Rail to Cambridge City Council and the work is planned for completion in time for the start...
