Nottingham City Council has been told to find “significant savings” to its PFI-funded tram network extension plan.

The DfT said last week it planned to approve Phase 2 of the tram project “subject to affordability”. But it wants to work with the council to consider “as a matter of urgency what opportunities there are to reduce the costs of the project materially whilst still delivering value for money”.
