A new funding model is close to being agreed that should secure the long-term future of speed cameras on England’s road network.

No official announcement of the new arrangements has yet been made but LTT understands it will be based on encouraging more motorists caught speeding to attend a speed awareness course instead of paying a fixed penalty notice and receiving points on their licence. A surcharge on the course fee would fund the network of cameras.
