The Scottish Parliament has approved the Forth Crossing Bill, paving the way for construction of the new road bridge across the estuary.
The Bill, approved by 108 votes to three, authorises the construction of a new crossing at Queensferry, adjacent to the existing Forth Road Bridge. The Government says a new bridge is necessary because deterioration of the main suspension cables means the existing bridge cannot remain the main crossing.
