Mayor makes U-turn on borough transport cuts

London Mayor Boris Johnson has dropped plans to cut the grant paid to London boroughs for small-scale transport improvements from £155m this year to £120m in 2013/14.

Johnson has now confirmed that the Local Implementation Plan budget will fall to £147.8m in 2011/12, a figure that will be maintained in 2012/13 and 2013/14. TfL will be writing to the London boroughs shortly to advise on how the additional funding will be allocated.
