Mayor salutes BTP efforts as crime falls on Tube and buses

Passengers on the capital’s transport network are among the safest in Europe, said London Mayor Boris Johnson last month as he announced that overall crime had fallen by 30% on the buses and by 20% on the Tube over the past three years.

Criminal damage to buses and Tube trains has fallen by 59.3% from 8,178 cases in 2007 to 3,333 in 2010, said Johnson. The figures also show that robbery on public transport has fallen by 46.5% in the last three years from 5,194 robberies in 2007 to 2,782...
