UK Chancellor pledges an extra £200m investment for new rail schemes

The UK government has made £200m of additional investment available for rail schemes, chancellor George Osborne announced in the Budget. The projects that have been given the go-ahead are the £85m Ordsall Chord scheme, linking Manchester’s Victoria and Piccadilly stations, which will significantly reduce journey times between Liverpool and Leeds.
