Clinton maintains that speed cameras remain an important tool in the road safety professionals arsenal, despite relentless criticism of their deployment from certain quarters

Noting that the UK’s first road safety strategy preceded the New Labour Government, Clinton observes that: “We have had national strategies and targets in place for almost 25 years and they have been very important.” The fact that, at time of writing, the current Liberal Democrat-Conservative coalition government has yet to produce its new road safety strategy, despite the document being planned for publication in April, leaves ROSPA’s road safety head somewhat nervous....
