PTEG claims one in five bus services will be cut

22 August 2011

The Passenger Transport Executive Group has claimed that Britain’s six largest urban areas outside London will lose one in five of their bus services by 2014 as a result of government funding cuts.

A new report for PTEG by consultancy MVA shows that the impact of reductions to funding for local government and wider support for buses would have severe impacts on service provision compared to 2009 levels. Its forecasts include:

Patronage will decline by 20%

Fares will increase...

+77% more
