TfL sees driverless future for the Tube

The London Underground will be almost entirely operated by driverless trains in future, Transport for London said this week. Mike Brown, TfL’s managing director for London Rail and London Underground, said: “It is very unlikely that, after the procurement of the trains for the Sub Surface Lines [Circle, District, Hammersmith & Fulham, and Metropolitan], London Underground will ever again buy a fleet of passenger trains with conventional drivers’ cabs.” He added:...
