Plans in the UK government’s rail Command Paper for retailers close to stations, and potentially high street libraries, post offices and supermarkets, to sell rail tickets could draw on technology developed for Merseyrail’s MtoGo concept. The first MtoGo combined convenience store and ticket sales outlet was opened in 2006 at Liverpool’s Moorfields, and has since been extended to a further seven stations.
