Who’s going to archive the UK’s transport studies?

In a recent column, Phil Goodwin asked if anyone had copies of the original documents for the 1980 and 1984 National Road Traffic Forecasts (NRTF) (‘Due diligence, traffic forecasts and pensions’ LTT 13 Apr). As it happens, when I retired I retained lots of bits and pieces, so I had a hunt. Fortunately I found several useful things, and sent them off to Phil. It all got me thinking about the history of our profession and the retention of archives.
