Olympic routes opened to all traffic after officials use public transport

Organisers turned off several dedicated Olympic Games lanes in the capital after officials opted to travel by public transport. London mayor Boris Johnson made the announcement on 30 July, on the third day of the Games. The Games Lanes, which cover 30 miles of the 109-mile Olympic Route Network (ORN), are open only to accredited vehicles covering athletes, officials and accrediated media.
