Milton Keynes Council is to switch back on almost all the streetlights on the city’s grid roads  at night following the recent deaths of two pedestrians on unlit stretches of the roads.

The council’s then minority Liberal Democrat administration approved the switch-off of 6,000 of the 7,100 grid road streetlights as part of budget cuts last spring. No formal safety assessment was made before the decision was made.
