Leicestershire County Council is to cut the number of civil enforcement officers (CEOs) by a third due to a fall in penalty charge notice income. The county council, which is being forced to cut £82m from its budget over the next four years, said that a fall in parking revenue was unsustainable.
The move will see fewer patrols in market towns and villages. The council says it will instead focus its efforts on areas with known parking problems.
