The Scottish Government is to launch a number of pilot projects of its nationwide public transport smartcard, dubbed the Saltire Card.
Scotland’s deputy first minister Nicola Sturgeon (pictured) last week outlined her ambitions for the card, which will allow passengers to pre-load money that they can then use to pay for travel on trains, buses, ferries, the Glasgow subway and the Edinburgh tram.
