Local Highway authorities have been given a model to predict the future deterioration of their highway networks.
The Highway Maintenance Efficiency Programme’s Life-cycle Planning Toolkit includes a standard carriageway deterioration model to inform councils’ asset management decisions. Alan Taggart, director, Atkins, consultant to the HMEP, told an event at which the toolkit was launched there was no standard model or approach to modelling deterioration.
