The Department for Transport’s long-awaited rolling stock plan has promised a massive injection of new trains beyond the 1,300 additional vehicles already pledged by 2014.
A further 1100 further vehicles are scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2015 for the completed Thameslink programme. In total the plan says the new Thameslink network will require up to 1,300 new vehicles. A DfT spokeswoman told Transit only 200 of these were included in the allocation up to 2014.
