John Gould, managing director of Stagecoach in South Wales, said his company’s positive relationship with the Welsh Assembly Government was undermined by the decision and the way it was announced through the media. He said WAG had known about the 2p increase since the Budget in March. “They’ve had all that time to do a review. Effectively it’s an additional cost burden of about £250,000 a year for us,” he added.
