Middlesbrough Council is set to end free parking for its staff in a bid to cut staff travel payments by £287,000 in 2013/14. The council aims to scrap the essential car user allowance, which would mean that free parking permits would no longer be available.
This forms part of the council’s plan to save a further £2.4m on top of the £11m already announced. A six-week consultation on the changes ends runs until 25 January.
