In all, the northern extensions require the demolition of 227 residential properties, 179 commercial properties, 42 industrial properties and five community facilities. 

On the western leg, 122 residential dwellings would face demolition including: 47 close to Manchester Piccadilly, 22 in West Gorton where the tunnel under Manchester emerges, and 14 at the proposed interchange. A further 1,200 dwellings would be within 100 metres of the western route.
