A national survey is to identify the gap between each local authority’s “optimum” level of spending and actual spend on highways services in order to identify the best performers for minimum cost.

Peter Radford, the chair of the National Highways &?Transport survey, detailed the survey’s aim to capture better measures of quality and cost of highways maintenance to supplement the survey’s data on customer perception.
