New details have emerged of the DfT’s study into options for a major increase to road capacity between Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire through the Peak District National Park.

Local authorities last month met with DfT and Highways Agency officials in Manchester to discuss the Trans-Pennine routes feasibility study. It is one of a number of studies the Chancellor announced last June to find solutions to long-standing bottlenecks on the trunk road network (LTT 28 Jun 13).
