Bike hire launched in Stirling

17 October 2014

A new bike hire scheme has been launched in Stirling, providing 100 bicycles from 11 rental stations in the city. The scheme is operated by Nextbike and has been launched in conjunction with Stirling Cycle Hub, a project run by Forth Environment Link and funded by Transport Scotland and ScotRail. Annual membership costs £60 with free hire for the first 30 minutes and a maximum charge of £5 for 24 hours. Casual hire costs £1 per half hour and a maximum of £10 for up to 24 hours. Students and staff of Stirling University and Forth Valley College can join for free. Nextbike launched a bike hire scheme in Glasgow in June. It now features 31 bike hire stations and 400 bicycles. The number of bike hires has reached over 30,000.
