Luton busway patronage far below forecasts

Passenger numbers on the Luton-Dunstable guided busway are running far below forecasts, figures reveal.

The busway carried just over one million passengers between opening on 25 September 2013 and 30 June 2014, which suggests an annual figure of 1.3 million.

The 2008 business case – upon which the grant was allocated – estimated annual patronage under the ‘most likely’ scenario as 3.0 million in 2011 and 3.5 million in 2021.
