Highways Agency to be renamed Highways England

A new government-owned company called Highways England will replace the Highways Agency from April 2015. The change is contained in the Infrastructure Bill, which will bring major reforms to the Highways Agency.

The government said that creating a government-owned company this will ensure greater certainty over the planned upgrades to 100 new road schemes across England between now and 2021.
