The Chancellor today launched a "long-term economic plan for London" that asks TfL for detailed proposals for a proposed extension of the Bakerloo line to south-east London.
TfL has consulted on the idea of extending the line, which currently terminates at Elephant & Castle, to Catford via Camberwell and Peckham, or via Old Kent Road. Local Lib Dem and Labour politicians campaigning for the General Election are pressing for both proposed branches to be built.
TfL's board has received an update on how 96% of more than 14,000 respondents backed the scheme in the consultation and work is underway on the business case of the scheme.
