Scotland cycling levels up 32%

Cycling levels in Scotland went up by 32% between 2003 and 2013, according to a new report from Cycling Scotland. By 2013 cycling as the main mode of travel stood at 1%, the charity estimates.

In 2013 some 329 million kilometres were travelled by bike, representing a 32% increase over 10 years, says the report. It found that cycling levels were highest in Clackmannanshire at 3.5%, followed by Edinburgh (2.5%) and Stirling (2.2%). The proportion cycling to work at least ‘regularly’...
