The Department for Transport has today published its Road Investment Strategy (RIS), with details of a new arms-length company that will run England’s motorways and A-roads from 1 April.
Highways England will take over the strategic road network from the Highways Agency as part of a package of road reforms which, the DfT estimates, will save the taxpayer £2.6bn over the next 10 years.
