Sorry plight of bus sector outside London highlighted by media

The importance of the humble bus in getting British people to and from work, amongst other places, was emphasised by the media, despite an acknowledgement that passenger numbers outside the capital appear to be in a serious ongoing decline.

On 25 August bus policy had a comparatively rare outing in the mainstream media when Guardian columnist John Harris discussed the topic in relation to his summer holiday in the Yorkshire town of Whitby.
