Britain’s community rail partnerships (CRPs) are managing to weather the harsh economic climate and local government cutbacks remarkably well. In part this is down to a growing willingness by the Department for Transport, and the devolved administrations in Scotland and Wales, to support CRPs in helping them achieve their own objectives of promoting the greater use, and socio-economic relevance, of local railways.
