The Welsh Government is seeking clarification from the DfT about the timing of electrifying the railway between Cardiff and Swansea. Network Rail said last month that the Great Western Main Line would be electrified as far as Cardiff during NR’s control period 5 (2014/15-2018/19) within the new estimated total cost of £2.8bn (2012/13 prices) (LTT 27 Nov).
