Travel between Fife and the Lothians has been severely disrupted by the emergency closure of the Forth road bridge after the discovery of defective steelwork.
Cross-Forth road traffic is having to reroute onto the Kincardine and Clackmannanshire bridges further west. ScotRail has laid on extra and longer trains to cope with demand.
Transport Scotland says the aim is to re-open the bridge in time for the return to work in early January.
