Transport Scotland (TS) is being urged to review its rail demand forecasting methods in the wake of the runaway success of the Borders Railway.
The number of single trips on the £353m line from Edinburgh to Galashiels/Tweedbank in the first 20 weeks since opening last September was 537,327.
Transport Scotland’s central forecast for the first year was 647,136 return trips (1.294 million singles). It says the 547,327 trips is 20% ahead of its 448,000 20-week forecast....
