I was surprised by Rachel Aldred’s Viewpoint article (‘We’ve slowed down traffic in residential streets – now let’s reduce it’ LTT 05 Feb). She refers to car drivers as engaging in ‘rat running’. I take issue with her choice of words. Does she see car drivers as rats? Or is it the scuttling along the kerb to which she objects? Car drivers, driving along her street, are engaged in a lawful activity – and moreover are the people whom she hopes...
