Network Rail faces a massive revaluation of its fixed assets, the implications of which are currently unclear.
The current valuation of NR’s property, plant and equipment is £54.1bn (according to Network Rail’s annual report for year ending 31 March 2015), much lower than the £111.9bn valuation for Highway England, the body responsible for England’s motorways and major A roads.
