Scottish transport minister Tavish Scott has given the go-ahead for the second phase of the A9 upgrade between Helmsdale and the Ord of Caithness. The mostly off-line improvement will comprise a 2.1km single carriageway road between between Allt Briste North and Navidale. It includes a 280-metre climbing lane, a roundabout, a new junction with Navidale Cemetery Road, street lighting and cycle and pedestrian links.
