The Women In Parking (WIP) European Chapter is running a networking event during Parkex 2016 on 16 June. The session will take place at 12.45 and be open to all Parkex attendees. 

The event will be addressed guest speakers Richard Harris, a director of ITS International, and Anjna Patel, incoming executive director and president of Women In Parking Europe.

WIP in Europe was launched during the Intertraffic Amsterdam in April. Over 70 parking professionals from across Europe attended the event, including representatives from both the European Parking Association and British Parking Association.

Women In Parking Europe is currently organising the chapter’s management structure and appointing a leadership board members.

Anjna Patel, who is principal officer for parking at Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council and volunteers as chair of the Midlands British Parking Association, said: “Our vision for this chapter following the association’s mission is to provide female parking professionals who possess the right leadership qualities with the encouragement, opportunity, training and mentorship, which would motivate the workforce enabling in business growth and in turn earn goodwill.”

Women In Parking (WIP) was founded in the USA in 2011 to serve as the premier association dedicated to promoting the advancement and achievement of female parking professionals by providing networking, leadership, and career outreach opportunities to its members. 

There are over 200 individual members as well as corporate sponsors for WIP in the USA. Membership is open to both men and women from all sectors of parking and transportation. Besides being a membership network, Women In Parking produces resources designed to help parking organisations create and benefit from a gender balanced workforce.
