Wales ‘snubbed’ by new round of OLEV’s green bus grants

The UK Government’s Office for Low Emission Vehicles has rejected every bid from Wales for Low Emission Bus Scheme  (LEBS) funding, with all the £30.4m grant being awarded to English bids.

Among the unsuccessful Welsh bids was one that proposed to use waste hydrogen from Port Talbot steelworks to reduce diesel emissions in one of Britain’s most polluted areas.

Hundreds of buses in England and Scotland are now hybrids or powered by fuels other than diesel, thanks to grants...
