The European Investment Bank (EIB) has agreed to provide train operating company Abellio with £60m to buy new trains for its East Anglia fleet on key London, intercity, airport and local services.
The 378 new train carriages will replace outdated existing electric and diesel trains currently used on the routes. The EIB represents the first European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI) transport loan in the UK.
