Siemens ITS will host its first traffic enforcement user group forum this month. More than 50 road safety and civil enforcement representatives from local authorities across the UK will assemble in London on? 9 November to discuss parking and civil enforcement technology.

The meeting takes place at The Crystal, an educational initiative through which Siemens explores how to create better and more sustainable cities.

Ade Ford, Siemens ITS’s head of sales for civil enforcement, said: ”The meeting will provide our customers in the civil enforcement community with the opportunity to share current issues and future requirements and hear what Siemens is doing to solve a range of road safety and civil enforcement problems for its users.”

The meeting will see Siemens show its LaneWatch Mk3 unattended moving traffic enforcement is designed to provide wireless, automatic enforcement of yellow box junctions and other moving traffic enforcement. The LaneWatch range of cameras can use ANPR and/or video analytics to detect and identify vehicles in contravention.

Recent additions to the enforcement range are the LaneWatch SKC and TrafficWatch PTZ cameras.

The LaneWatch SKC is a version of the LaneWatch Mk3 developed for the automatic detection and identification of vehicles parking and stopping on school zigzags during enforcement hours. “Video analytics detect the stopped vehicle and ANPR identifies the vehicles number plate automatically,” said Ford.

The TrafficWatch PTZ is an attended parking enforcement camera designed for rapid deployment and relocation outside schools, bus stops, red routes or other traffic enforcement and management needs.

Ford said: “The PTZ cameras communicate in real-time with PC-based software that allows the operator to move the camera and capture contraventions. By using the 3G/4G cellular network, cameras and operators can be located anywhere in the UK. Being a discreet form of enforcement, driver behaviour change is brought about by the issue of penalty charge notices rather than the temporary change experienced when using mobile enforcement vehicles.”
