Political and business leaders in East Sussex are lobbying for a major improvement to the A27 trunk road east of Lewes.
Highways England is currently consulting on a £75m package of small-scale improvements for the road between Lewes and Polegate (LTT 11 Nov) but the A27 Reference Group wants a much costlier improvement included in Highways England’s next five-year Road Investment Strategy, commencing in 2020/21.
