The Scottish Government has declared that the people should have more say in influencing how transport policy develops as Scottish transport minister Humza Yousaf launches a consultation on a review of the national transport strategy.
The early engagement survey aims to gather views at an early stage of the review so that all Scots, as well as regional transport partnerships and local authorities, can better shape the themes, the SNP Government says. This will be followed by a wider programme of national engagement in summer 2017 ahead of a full public consultation.
It asks whether the strategy's current three strategic outcomes of improved journey times and connections; reduced emissions; and improved quality, accessibility and affordability, will still be relevant over the next 20 years; what are the main challenges and opportunities over the next two decades; and "if there was one thing that needs to change substantially now in transport, what would that be?"
