Lothian Buses profits to part-fund city's tram line extension

Municipally-owned Lothian Buses has spelt out how a £20m extraordinary dividend could be paid to majority shareholder the City of Edinburgh Council to part-fund an extension of the Edinburgh Tram to Newhaven in the north of the city. 

Lothian pays Edinburgh a dividend of £6m a year but councillors have asked the operator for an additional extraordinary dividend of £20m by 2021 to help deliver the tram extension.
