Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council is to scrap its more generous child concessionary travel scheme on buses from April. The Mi-card scheme was introduced in 2009. Initially it gave cardholders under 18 free travel on buses between 9am and 9pm on weekdays but budgetary pressures have seen the scheme’s generosity gradually reduced.
