Bristol halves £1.8m bus subsidy spend

Bristol City Council is to halve its spending on supported bus services as part of wider budget cuts. 

The council currently spends £1.8m a year on supported services (excluding £450,000 of DfT Bus Service Operator Grant). This will fall by £450,000 in each of 2017/18 and 2018/19. 

The impact of the cut will be cushioned by First Bus’s decision to commercialise about £400,000 of currently tendered services. This mainly affects evening services and some...
